Attend Benedictine University’s College of Science Open House and learn how its distinguished science programs can help you to defy limitations.

High school and transfer students interested in science are invited to check out the Open House from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23. Check-in begins at 11:00 a.m. in the Krasa Student Center.

The open house provides students and their parents with the opportunity to meet with University staff members to discuss Benedictine’s academic programs, admissions requirements, application process, available scholarships and financial aid. Customized tours of campus and the Birck Hall of Science, a state-of-the-art teaching and research facility, will also be provided.

Benedictine University’s College of Science offers undergraduate programs in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Clinical Life Science (Perfusion Technology and Respiratory Care), Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Engineering Science, Environmental Science, Health Science, Mathematics, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Physics, Radiation Therapy and pre-professional programs in Chiropractic, Dentistry, Medicine, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Podiatry and Veterinary Medicine.

The College of Science provides unique opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in summer research projects and internships through its ties to the regional science community, which includes Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.

This experience allows students to gain expertise in a lab setting, expand their understanding of classroom work and enhance their resumes.

Alumni have matriculated to some of the top graduate and medical schools in the country, and those who have decided to attend medical school said they were more prepared than peers who attended other schools.

Prospective students can also stay after the event for a special presentation on the University’s Scholars Program, which offers academically talented students special opportunities to develop their skills as thinkers, readers and writers through a coordinated program of seminar-style coursework that emphasizes discussion and debate.

The program also aims to help its members grow as leaders and global citizens by heightening their understanding of other cultures and encouraging a commitment to socially responsible action.
