Learn how to navigate through financial aid process at free Benedictine event

You might have heard about the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Pell Grants and Stafford Subsidized Loans – but do you know specifically how they can help you or your student finance a college education?

Benedictine University, the fastest-growing university in the country, understands that without assistance, the financial aid process can be a daunting prospect for many parents and students.

To simplify and provide the most pertinent information available about this aspect of college planning, Benedictine will host a free Financial Aid 101 workshop from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15 on the second floor of the Krasa Student Center on the University’s main campus at 5700 College Road in Lisle.

Financial aid counselors will explain how to file a FAFSA; the different types of institutional, state and federal assistance; and what options are available if financial aid does not cover the full cost of attending college.

Parents and students will also be able to schedule an individual financial aid counseling session with one of the University's expert financial aid counselors. The sessions are open to all, even if a student does not plan to attend Benedictine University or has yet to select a college.

According to AffordableCollegesOnline.org, Benedictine University is ranked among the top 25 most affordable Catholic colleges and universities in the country with the highest starting salaries earned by graduates.

Benedictine students receive a values-based, Catholic education that prepares them to reach their full potential.

Whether receiving personal instruction from teachers with the highest degrees in their fields, conducting research, participating in internships or applying to a pool of more than $300,000 in academic University-based scholarships, academic opportunities abound.

Benedictine students challenge themselves every day and gain a greater perspective on the world through study abroad trips, guest lecturers, music concerts, student clubs and athletic teams.
