The Arbors of Brookdale Kicks off Spring With Its Annual Easter Party

For the past five years the Arbors of Brookdale in Naperville has hosted an annual Easter Party for families who live in the community. This year's party, which was hosted at the community’s club house, entailed an Easter egg hunt and a visit from the Easter Bunny.

The unseasonably cooler temperatures didn’t keep families from attending the event -- more than 25 families came to enjoy the festivities. Parents enjoyed mingling over a special lunch while they watched their children soak in some long-needed sunshine as they played around the grassy area by the pool.

“We pride ourselves on our family-friendly community,” said Barbara J. Gaffen, co-CEO of Prime Property Investors (PPI), which owns and manages The Arbors of Brookdale community. “Every parent wants to live in a community that provides a fun and safe environment for their children and The Arbors provides that for them.”

An “America’s Families and Living Arrangements” report that came out in 2013 and combined data from the Annual Social and Economic Supplement (ASEC), the Current Population Survey (CPS) and the American Community Survey (ACS), found that homeownership among households with children fell by 15 percent nationally between 2005 and 2011.

“For today’s families it’s not just about homeownership but the opportunity to live where they want and how they want, and for many that means renting in Naperville,” said Gaffen.

Rental communities like The Arbors are helping meet families’ shifting needs by providing an opportunity to live and experience a family friendly lifestyle in a desirable location.

According to Gaffen, families with young children make up 25 percent of The Arbor’s tenants. Families are drawn to The Arbors because it provides affordable housing in a safe neighborhood that includes an onsite playground, quality schools, a swimming pool and fun family-focused activities.
