Wheatland Fills Vacant Trustee Position

Jeffrey DeRango of Plainfield was sworn in July 10.

A Plainfield resident has been appointed to fill the spot left by outgoing Wheatland Township trustee Mike Crockett.

Jeffrey DeRango was sworn in at the township board's July 10 meeting. He was one of six applicants for the position.

DeRango, 32, works as a land surveyor for a Rosemont-based company.

Crockett submitted his resignation June 20, telling the Naperville Sun that he'd accomplished what he'd set out to do on the board.

Another trustee, Darren Bennefield, also recently left the board to fill Lee Ann Goodson's spot on the Will County Board after Goodson took a job with Elmhurst-Edward Healthcare.

Last month, Bruce Wronski was sworn in to fill the remainder of Bennefield's term.

Both Crockett and Bennefield were elected with a slate of Republican candidates in April 2013.
