The is informing residents that annual maintenance on the city’s 25 outdoor warning sirens will take place throughout the week of Aug. 27.
During this time, the city’s warning siren contractor Braniff will activate each of the city’s outdoor warning sirens individually for evaluation. Residents should not be alarmed if they hear the sirens going off during periods of calm weather.
Audible testing each day will only take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The city anticipates the routine maintenance to be complete by Aug. 31.
The city reminds residents that outdoor warning sirens are activated for the purpose of alerting people who are outdoors that a tornado warning has been issued for the Naperville area. Residents are always encouraged to monitor their preferred local media outlet, NOAA Weather Radio or the National Weather Service website at www.weather.gov for the latest weather forecasts.
