Riverwalk Community Center Exterior Work to Begin June 2

The exterior work is expected to be complete by the end of August 2014.

Submitted by Naperville Park District

Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, which currently hosts a variety of Naperville Park District programs, will be undergoing required exterior maintenance.

Beginning June 2, contractors will repair cracks in its exterior finish, add a new layer of stone cladding at the base of the building, and apply a new coat of paint.

When the project is complete, the building will have a new Exterior Insulation and Finishing System (EIFS) as well as an attractive, new appearance. (Please see attached elevation drawing.)

As the project proceeds, a portion of the north parking lot will be closed for construction staging, but parking spaces will continue to be available for patrons.

At times the west, north, or south entrances may be closed when contractors are working in that area. The building will remain open all summer with regularly scheduled programs continuing as usual.

The exterior work is expected to be complete by the end of August 2014.

Calling this complete facelift/redecorating exercise "required exterior maintenance" is typical of the type of propaganda Naperville is becoming famous/infamous for. Just another ridiculous waste of taxpayer money.

Part of the project is to repair cracks in the exterior finish and then repaint the building so that the patched cracks don't stand out. Would it be a bigger waste of taxpayers money not to repair the facade?
