Frozen Ground Forces Park District to Push Back Opening Athletic Fields

The spring thaw needs to take hold before athletic fields can open for the season.

Thursday may have marked the first official day of spring but this harsh winter has left Naperville Park District's athletic fields with still-frozen ground and water collecting over the top of that, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

Because of this, the athletic fields will remain closed through next week and this will impact sports teams that would typically have started practicing, including the Naperville Youth Soccer program, which has games scheduled to start on April 5, according to the article.
