The Naperville Park District Board will vote on a contract bid for lead removal work at Naperville's Sportsman's Park.
Park District staff is sending a $490,457 contract for the park board to approve at the Aug. 22 board meeting, according to the Park District.
Last month, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency gave the green light for the Park District to begin the first phase of remediation work at Sportsman's Park, 735 S. West St.
"The contract amount is under the $500,000 budget for the Phase I project and specifies a start date in early September with substantial completion by the end of 2013," according to the Park District.
The first phase of the work will cleanup "previously unknown lead impacts, restore limited restricted areas to public use," and prepare the park for a second phase of remediation, which is scheduled to begin in 2014 pending approval by the state, according to the Park District.
