Naperville City Manager Accused of Making 'Racially Offensive Comments'

Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger received a verbal reprimand and must complete the city's harassment prevention and diversity awareness training, according to media reports.

Naprville's city manager has been reprimanded following accusations by a city employee that he made "racially offensive comments," according to media reports. 

Naperville City Manager Doug Krieger received a verbal reprimand and must complete the city's harassment prevention and diversity awareness training following the remarks that were made in January and involved an "off-color joke," the Chicago Tribune reports. 

A departing Human Resources employee filed the complaint against Krieger on May 2, according to the Chicago Tribune. 

Meanwhile, investigations continue into other staff members accused of inappropriate conduct, the Naperville Sun reports. 

One HR executive accused of an "array of sexually inappropriate behaviors" signed his separation agreement on May 28 and will be provided four weeks of severance at $46.39 per hour, according to the Naperville Sun.
