Metra Platform Construction to Slow Traffic Tuesday

Drivers on Washington Street should plan for delays and traffic stoppages along Washington Street.

Delays are expected Tuesday along Washington Street between 5th and North avenues as construction on the station platform reduces traffic to one lane.

Along with the lane reductions, periodic traffic stoppages are also expected between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the . Drivers headed either northbound or southbound should expect delays and plan accordingly.

The Naperville Metra Station Platform Improvement Project is underway and the stoppages and delays are required in order for concrete to be poured for the reconstruction of the south platform, according to the city. The project involves removal and reconstruction of the north and south platforms of the Naperville Metra Station. The construction began in and is expected to be completed in 2012.
