March 1 is Last Day for Seniors to File for Tax Relief in Will County

Seniors in Will County who are 65 or older may defer up to 100 percent of their property taxes. March 1 is the last day to file.

Seniors living in Will County should note that today is the last day to file for property tax relief, according to the Will County Treasurer.

The Senior Citizens Real Estate Property Tax Deferral Program gives residential property owners 65 and older the opportunity to defer up to 100 percent of their property taxes.

“Tough economic times and fixed incomes are a perfect storm for senior citizens trying to pay their property taxes,” Steve Weber said in a news release. “Although this program does not get rid of the responsibility of paying property taxes, the Senior Tax Deferral has helped seniors plan how they pay their taxes.
