Ives’ House Committee Assignments Line Up with Economic Growth Agenda

Ives joins House Appropriations Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education, Committee on Cities and Villages and House Committee on Labor and Commerce.

State Representative Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton) has been assigned to serve on five key committees during the 98th Legislative Session. She will be a fiscally conservative voice as a member of the Appropriations Committee for Elementary & Secondary Education, House Labor Committee, House Committee on Cities and Villages, House Committee on Mass Transit and House Committee on International Trade and Commerce.

“These appointments present a great opportunity to serve the people of District 42 and all of Illinois. Committee Assignments

The House Appropriations Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education considers budgetary matters affecting the Illinois public school system. Measures often concern the funding of specific state education initiatives like school funding appropriations and school construction bond program funding.

The House Committee on Cities and Villages considers matters affecting local and municipal government.

The House Committee on Labor and Commerce has primary jurisdiction over legislation affecting working families and labor relations. Key topics include, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, collective bargaining, minimum wage and fair employment practices

The House Committee on Mass Transit addresses funding and policy issues affecting the state's mass transit systems. Illinois has both rural and urban transit districts that provide bus, rail, and paratransit services to Illinois residents.

The House Committee on International Trade and Commerce considers legislation related to the state's place in the global economy. Issues that may come before the committee include: initiatives to enhance the state’s economic competitiveness; efforts to promote the export of Illinois-made products; and the impact of trends and changes in the international business climate on Illinois businesses, farmers and workers.
