Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation DuPage County Board Election Forum

The Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation will host a Candidate Forum featuring DuPage County Board candidates for Districts 2, 3, and 5 on Wednesday evening, September 12, 2012, at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street.

“Decisions made by the County Board in Wheaton impact area residents in a number of ways,” said NAHC President Dr. Bob Buckman.  “Whether through property tax levies, administration of affordable housing, or control over zoning and land use in unincorporated areas, decisions made by the County Board impact our pocketbooks and our properties.”

Invited to the forum are the candidates for the second, third, and fifth districts of DuPage County.  “With mandated redistricting, no matter who is the victor in November, many Naperville residents will be served by new representation,” Buckman added.  “Our forum will allow our neighbors to learn who is vying to be their representative, and how they stand on issues of importance to homeowners.”

NAHC election forums follow a prescribed format of questions from both the Confederation and audience members.  In addition to answering questions, candidates will be provided with an opportunity for both an opening and closing statement.  All questions will be posed by forum moderator and NAHC Vice President Bob Fischer, with each candidate being provided the same questions and given a specific time period for their answers.

In addition to being available to a live audience in the Council Chambers, the forum will be broadcast live on the City of Naperville government access channel, WCNC (Channel 6 WOW, Channel 10 COMCAST, and Channel 99 AT&T) with replays scheduled in the weeks leading to the elections.

“In this first of several forums we are planning prior to the November elections, we are pleased to be able to provide an opportunity to understand these candidates’ positions on the issues homeowners deem important,” Dr. Buckman concluded.  Planned forums in October will feature candidates for the State House and Senate as well as the United States Congress.
