City of Naperville Honors Peace Officers

The Naperville Police Department and the Naperville Police Association of Chaplains invite the public to join them at the annual Peace Officer Memorial Observance, taking place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at the Naperville Public Safety Plaza, 1350 Aurora Ave.

The Peace Officer Memorial Observance is an annual service to recognize and memorialize peace officers across the nation who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of their duty and to honor their families and loved ones.  There were 158 men and women throughout the United States who died in the line of duty in 2010.

In addition to the memorial service, the Naperville Police Honor Guard will conduct the official wreath presentation and flag ceremony. The Pipes and Drums of the Naperville Police Department will perform Amazing Grace, and the Naperville Police Association will lead attendees in a moment of silence. A 21-gun salute honoring the fallen officers will be conducted by the Carol Stream Police Department Honor Guard.
