The budget hearings will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Northern Illinois University Naperville Campus, 1120 E. Diehl Rd., Naperville.

DuPage County Board Chairman Dan Cronin has proposed a $431.8 million spending plan calling for a reduction in expenditures by $8.1 million. The plan, which does not increase property taxes, funds essential services such as public safety, infrastructure, human services, highway improvements in addition to drainage and storm water projects, according to the DuPage County Board.

“Due to the wise choices made by the board members in recent years, DuPage County is not struggling with how to deal with large deficits or unpaid obligations. Instead, we have an opportunity to spend our time figuring out how to save tax dollars and offer services without raising taxes or compromising quality,” Cronin said in a press release.

Finance Chairman Paul Fichtner said the hearings will provide residents with a chance to learn more about the proposed budget along with the $93 million capital plan to facilitate infrastructure projects throughout the County.

“The budget has a direct impact on our residents. Therefore it is extremely important that they have an opportunity to not only view the plan, but also to provide their input on how the County operates and spends their tax dollars,” he said in press release.
