Delays Expected at Major Naperville Intersections as Traffic Signals Get Upgrades

The traffic signals will not be functioning and stop signs will be displayed at those intersections.

Traffic signals at three major intersections along Ogden Avenue in Naperville will go dark next week.

Delays are expected as the Illinois Department of Transportation will be be replacing the signal cabinets and upgrading equipment at the following intersections:

  • Work will be completed at Ogden Avenue and North Aurora/Raymond Drive on June 16
  • Work will be completed at Ogden and River Road on June 18
  • Work will be completed at Ogden and Naper Boulevard/Naperville Road on June 19
The traffic signals will not be functioning and stop signs will be displayed at those intersections as traffic control while work is being performed. The work is anticipated to occur from 9 a.m. to about noon, pending weather and unforeseen circumstances.

City officials encourage motorists to seek alternate routes of travel whenever possible.

Harassing citizens?? Gerard click it or ticket! Why should others suffer insurance premium increases because idiots that don't wear seat belts get severely injured by not wearing them! Rear tail out can be a safety hazard and very dangerous at night! With saying that Gerard you're a special kind of stupid! Like I said Gerard no town does traffic control in the same situation as Naperville!

Thank You Resurrectum for your typical, insulting, nitwit response and most cities provide police coverage on main arteries when traffic is disrupted for ANY REASON!

Wrong Gerard! It depends on the situation, manpower resources or location! Learn about Police allocations and responsibilities! Dip!

How silly Reserectum! The City can't allocate police for 3 hours on three weekdays to keep traffic flowing smoothly and business flourishing? That's old government thinking. I've observed plenty of towns with enlightened management that understand that they are their to serve the community. Honestly, how safe is to have major intersections tied up with stop signs instead of police ensuring traffic moves efficiently? I always chuckle when government posts notices to "expect delays and avoid intersections" Wouldn't it be great to have a post, "Expect Police to keep traffic flowing with little disruption to business." What great PR for the City, police and tax dollar utilization. Just sayin' that there is an enlightened, positive way to run a city instead of the tired, lame "expect delays."

Chicago assigns traffic directors to major intersections under construction during rush hour... I would at least like to think our "humble little town" could get some sort of traffic director during construction.
