After spending 11 years as a fugitive, Erika H. Luna, a former Rush-Copley Medical Center employee accused of cashing over $10,000 in checks that were made out to job applicants and former hospital employees, was arrested on Feb. 26 following a crash in a Naperville parking lot, according to the Naperville Sun.
Luna, 45, who last lived in Montgomery, was taken into custody about 5:23 p.m. on Feb. 26 after police were sent to a parking lot at the College of DuPage campus, 1223 Rickert Drive in Naperville, following a report of minor crash, according to the article.
She was taken into custody after police ran a check on her and found that were three warrants out for her arrest, according to the Naperville Sun.
Luna had worked in the human resources department at Rush-Copley Medical Center when authorities said she began forging checks in 2001 and 2002, according to the Aurora Beacon News. She is charged with 11 felony counts of issuing or delivering a forged document, according to the article.
She is next expected in DuPage County Court on Friday morning, according to online court records.
