Cell Phone Leads Cops to Bag of Heroin

Naperville Police were getting a cell phone for a man they were taking into custody when they found a small bag of heroin.

A man arrested by police on a warrant landed in DuPage County Jail on additional charges thanks to his cell phone.

Police were taking Jeffrey Arnold Santana, 44, of the 800 block of East Ogden Avenue, into custody Thursday night on a warrant for disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing when Santana asked police for his cell phone, reports said.

Santana told police the cell phone was on a bed in his room. Police entered Santana’s room to retrieve the phone and found a small bag of heroin sitting out in the open, according to police reports. After reading Santana his Miranda rights, he told police he had more heroin.
