Two Hospitalized After Plainfield Crash

Four-car collision was a chain-reaction crash, officials said.

Two people were taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital Friday morning following a four-car collision on Route 126/Main Street near Eastern Avenue.

Plainfield Deputy Fire Chief Jon Stratton said the rear-end, chain-reaction crash happened at around 8:10 a.m. when one vehicle struck the back of a box truck, pushing the truck into two other vehicles.

The female driver of the first car had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Stratton said. The male driver of the box truck was taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital in fair condition, he said.

The roadway was closed for about an hour following the crash.
