Small Fire Damages Home Thursday Morning

Naperville Firefighters determined smoking materials caused the fire.

Smoking materials caused a small fire Thursday morning at a south Naperville home, according to fire officials.

Firefighters responded to a 911 call that came in at 8:44 a.m. in the 400 block of Sheffield Road, according to Division Chief Mark T. Ziemnik. In response to the call, 25 firefighters and 10 apparatus responded.

When crews arrived at about 8:49 a.m. the residents had already evacuated the home. Firefighters found smoke coming from one side of the house and determined a small fire was on the exterior of the home above a deck, Ziemnik said.
