Smoking materials caused a small fire Thursday morning at a south Naperville home, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call that came in at 8:44 a.m. in the 400 block of Sheffield Road, according to Division Chief Mark T. Ziemnik. In response to the call, 25 firefighters and 10 apparatus responded.
When crews arrived at about 8:49 a.m. the residents had already evacuated the home. Firefighters found smoke coming from one side of the house and determined a small fire was on the exterior of the home above a deck, Ziemnik said.
The fire was extinguished in about 5 minutes and crews remained on the scene an additional 45 minutes to search for any concealed fire, Ziemnik said. There were no injuries in the incident and damage to the home is estimated to be about $5,000.
