Small Fire Causes Minor Damage Tuesday Night

Firefighters responded to a vent fire on Naperville's far northwest side.

A family was able to extinguish a small fire before firefighters arrived at their home Tuesday night.

Firefighters, paramedics and police responded to a report of a fire in the 2300 block of Overlook Court on Naperville’s far northwest side. The residents made the 911 call at about 7 p.m. Two ambulances and several trucks were on the scene, with many neighbors watching.

The residents found smoke in the house and the fire was isolated to an exhaust fan in a bathroom, said Capt. Tom Oker.

“The fire was out when we got here,” he said.

Though the residents were able to extinguish the fire, firefighters stayed at the scene and did a search to make sure the fire had not spread, Oker said
