Scam with Little Boy Reported Near Lisle Tuesday

A man asked a woman questions while a 10-year-old boy stole her purse near Route 53 and Maple Avenue, police said.

Be on the lookout for a man and a little boy involved in a scam in the Lisle area, the DuPage Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.

At about noon Tuesday an elderly woman's purse was stolen in the area of Route 53 and Maple Avenue in unincorporated Lisle, a Sheriff's Office press release said.

The woman was approached by a man about 45 years old and a boy who was about 10 years old. The man started asking the woman questions as a distraction, as the younger suspect went into the garage and stole her purse, police said. 

The suspect was driving a white sedan and left in an unknown direction.

"I hope that everyone who reads this article will warn their friends and neighbors about these methods individuals are using to victimize citizens," Sheriff John Zaruba said. "Call 911 if you see any suspicious activity or vehicles in your neighborhood."
