Roof Collapses Thursday Near Downtown Naperville

First responders were on scene Thursday morning for a roof that had given way.

No one was injured Thursday morning in a roof collapse that occurred in the 100 block of South Washington Street.

received a 911 call at 10:27 a.m. about the structure collapse, which was at 127 S. Washington Street near the downtown corridor. The building houses a real estate company as well as Jill’s Children’s Photo Boutique.

The department sent one fire engine, one fire truck, two ambulances, one squad car and two battalion commanders to the scene, according to a news release.

"The first arriving unit reported a large section of the building’s parapet wall had fallen onto the roof," stated the release. "The building was evacuated as a precaution."

Fire personnel were assisted by other local agencies to assess the safety of the building. They determined that the building was safe and then allowed people to re-enter, authorities said.

Property owners had not yet gotten a cost estimate for the damage around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
