Naperville Police Name Mark Lewis as "Person of Interest" in Sister's Murder

Police obtained a warrant for Mark Lewis' arrest in connection with identity theft, saying he was involved in identity theft and forgery of his mother's bank account.

Naperville police announced late Friday afternoon that they are pursuing Mark R. Lewis as a "person of interest" in connection with his sister .

After being called to perform a well-being check, officers found Cathleen Lewis dead Wednesday night in her condo at a four-unit complex at 2339 Worthing Drive in , according to a news release.

A news release from Will County Coroner Patrick O’Neil said, “Ms. Lewis sustained multiple head injuries due to blunt head trauma, due to an assault.” An official cause of death won't be released by the Coroner's Office for four to six weeks, pending final toxicology and police reports.

Naperville Police Sgt. Gregg Bell said the investigation at Cathleen Lewis’ unit, where she lived with her 83-year-old mother, showed no signs of forced entry into the condo. Not at home at the time of the incident, Cathleen Lewis' mother was the one to request the well-being check on her daughter, police said.

Bell also said there was no evidence that anything had been taken from the home. Bell said early Friday that .

On Friday morning, Bell said Mark Lewis has been listed as a missing person by the Naperville Police Department, and entered into a national database of missing people. At the time, Bell said Mark Lewis had only been classified as a missing person in the case.

Mark Lewis, 51, of Lakemoor, IL, is believed to be driving a green 1999 Ford Explorer with Illinois registration 775 8696, according to police.

The Naperville Police Department asks anyone with information about Cathleen Lewis’ death or her brother's whereabouts to call 630-420-6147 or 630-420-6006 for the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line. Police are offering a reward of as much as $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Cathleen Lewis’ funeral is being coordinated by in Naperville, but arrangement details had not been announced late Friday afternoon.
