Police Blotter: Woman Speeds 42 MPH Over Limit, Burglary, Bikes Stolen

Friday, May 25

Driving under the influence

Michele Renee Chaparro, 39, of the 1900 block of Gardner Circle East in Aurora, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. in the 200 block of West Hillside road, said. She was charged with making an improper turn at an intersection, driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying a traffic control device, improper lane usage and failure to give a signal. Her bail was $3,000.

Warrant arrest

  • Christina Joy Cruz, 32, of the 700 block of Inland Circle, was arrested at 9:41 a.m. in the 1300 block of Aurora Avenue, police said. She was charged on a failure-to-appear warrant. Her bail was $5,000.
  • Lawrence Donaldson, 26, of the 700 block of Iowa Avenue in Aurora, was arrested at 11:24 p.m. in the 1100 block of North Mill Street, police said. He was charged on a failure-to-appear warrant. His bond was $250.

No insurance 

Lester Luke Taruvinga, 42, of the 300 block of Weatherford Lane, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. in the first block of East Chicago Avenue, police said. He was charged with title/registration possession offenses, expired registration, operating a vehicle without insurance, failure to transfer registration upon ownership of vehicle, no city sticker on cab and C/R/S registration. His bail was $2,000.

Disorderly conduct

  • Alexander Irwin Frueh, 18, of the 1100 block of Olympus Drive, was arrested at 8:19 p.m. at his home, police said. He was charged with disorderly conduct. His bond was $120.
  • Jennifer Elizabeth Laird, 18, of the 200 block of Rivanna Court, was arrested at 8:19 p.m. in the 1100 block of Olympus Drive, police said. She was charged with possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Her bond was $120.

Deceptive practice

Dylan Seth Smith, 20, of the 100 block of D Street in Chattanooga, TN, was arrested at 4:26 p.m. in the 2100 block of Cranberry Court, police said. He was charged with deceptive practice and a failure-to-appear warrant. His bond was $150. 

Suspended/revoked license

Kevin Mitchell Stokes, 25, of the 300 block of East George Street in Bensenville, was arrested at 10:48 p.m. near East Ogden Avenue and Vest Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving on suspended/revoked license and no muffler. His bond was $150.

Graffiti 

The word “snow” was spray painted in purple on garages that face Ogden Avenue in the 1000 block of Heritage Hill Drive, police said.

Game over

Someone removed a video game from the display and then removed the discs from the packaging and placed them into their pocket. He tried to leave the store in the 700 block of South Route 59, but was detained by loss prevention at 12:45 p.m, police said.

Water fight

Neighbors were arguing over a car getting wet from sprinklers being turned on in the 1100 block of Standish Court, police said.

Property damage

Two mailboxes were damaged overnight in the 2700 block of Rutland Road, police said. 

Tricky thief

A striker/plate assembly was removed from a door hotel in the 1800 block of Centre Point Circle sometime on May 25, which was possibly done to gain access to the hotel without paying and/or using the front door, police said.

Property damage

Someone pulled a sign that read, "No parking this side of street, Memorial Day" out of the ground and ignited the upper corner of the yellow backing in the 800 block of Wilson Avenue, police said.

Well then, help yourself

A man purchased a Black & Decker Power Sander valued at $49.99 on May 23 at Menards, but it was missing a part. Instead of exchanging the sander, he opened a new one on the sales floor and removed the piece, police said.

Saturday, May 26

Warrant arrest

Michael J. Boyd, 38, of the 400 block of North Hamilton in Villa Park, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. in the first block of West Van Buren Avenue, police said. He was charged on a failure-to-appear warrant. Boyd was found sleeping in the 4th floor North elevator lobby of the Van Buren Parking Deck. He was released to the Downers Grove Police Department after being wanted there on a traffic warrant, reports said.

Leaving scene of accident 

Bryan R. Marusarz, 18, of the 11600 block of Millennium Parkway in Plainfield, was arrested at 4:50 p.m. in the 3000 block of Bennett Drive, police said. He was charged with unsafe backing on a roadway and leaving the scene of an accident. His bond was $1,500.

Driving under the influence

Cesar Alejandro Morales, 29, of the 2300 block of Overlook Court, was arrested at 2:26 a.m. near North Aurora Road and Tudor Drive, police said. He was charged with operating a vehicle without insurance, driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to give a signal and improper lane usage. His bail was $3,000.

Fighting

Cadeiross Marselles Hughes, 24, of the 1000 block of South 10th Avenue in Maywood, was arrested at 12:40 a.m. in the first block of West Jefferson Avenue, police said. He was charged with fighting. His bond was $120.

Theft

An unknown female was caught with stealing a copper bracelet in her purse in the 100 block of West Jefferson Avenue. She fled the scene with an accomplice from the store when a clerk called 911, police said. 

Property damage

  • A homeowner discovered that sometime within the past year someone damaged two of the window screens on her home in the 1200 block of Bainbridge Drive, police said.
  • Several gouges were scratched into a Chevrolet Camero in the 300 block of South Route 59, police said.

Scammed

A man stole $30 via quick change scam in the 1700 block of North Aurora Road, police said.

Sunday, May 27

Driving under the influence

Thomas Michael Kowalski, 41, of the 500 block of Spruce Drive, was arrested at 2:05 a.m. near South Washington Street and Hobson Road, police said. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and violating a traffic control device. His bail was $3,000.

Possession

  • Taylor Rose Schneeman, 18, of the 2400 block of Rio Grande Circle, was arrested at 11:16 p.m. in the 1500 block Hampton Court, police said. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was $120.
  • Tylor James Martinez, 20, of the 800 block of East Ogden Avenue, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. at his home. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was $120.
  • Don Allan Pawelko, 24, of the 5400 block of Burr Oak Road in Lisle, was arrested at 12:09 a.m. in the 800 block of East Ogden Avenue, police said. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was $120.

Burglary

Michael John Jarmulak, 31, of the first block of West 112th Place in Chicago, was arrested at 4:57 a.m. in the 800 block of North Main Street, police said. He was charged with resisting a peace officer and three counts of burglary. He was transported to DuPage County Jail.

Warrant arrest 

Amy Grace Vanopdorp, 27, of the 400 block of North Avenue, was arrested at 8:51 p.m. at her home, police said. She was charged on a failure-to-appear warrant and transported to DuPage County Jail.

Theft

Ginger Ruth Selby, 47, of the 28W700 block of Grommon Road, was arrested at 8:02 p.m. in the 2600 block of West 75th Street, police said. She was charged with retail theft. Her bond was $120.

Burglary

  • Someone entered a resident’s locked Honda Odyssey parked in their driveway in the 3100 block of Austin Street and removed a Garmin GPS from the center console and two sets of headphones, police said. 
  • Someone entered an unlocked, white BMW X5 parked in a driveway in the 1300 block of Bards Avenue and stole a Garmin GPS along with a wallet, police said. 
Monday, May 28

Speeding

Vashuda L. Klein, 45, of the 2700 block of Silver Spur Court, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. near Feldott Lane and West Ogden Avenue, police said. She was charged with speeding 31-40 MPH over the limit after she was timed driving her black Mercedes at 82 MPH in a 40 MPH zone.

Suspended/revoked license

  • Cory Richard Griffin, 20, of the 1400 block of West Jefferson Avenue, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. near Aurora Avenue and Berry Drive, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license and operating a vehicle without insurance. His bail was $2,000.
  • Jose Antonio Barrientos-Hernandez, 26, of the 6400 block of North Nashville Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. near Encine Drive and Testa Drive, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license and operating a vehicle without insurance. His bail was $2,000.

Possession

Jillian Nicole Graybeal, 19, of the 900 block of Riverstone Drive in Aurora, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. near West Ogden Avenue and South Route 59, police said. She was charged with speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was $120.

Bikes stolen

  • A black and yellow specialized transition bike valued at $5,500 was stolen from a garage between in the 1000 block of North Main Street between May 25 and 28, police said.
  • A red and grey framed Mongoose BMX bike was stolen in the past two days in the 1600 block of Ishnala drive, police said. 

Hit and run

A vehicle hit a victim's silver SUV as it entered a parking space in the first block of East Chicago Avenue on May 28 between 4:45 p.m. and 5 p.m., police said. The offending vehicle might have been red, according to reports.

Nearby communities

Eileen G. Flaherty, 42, of Pebblewood Lane, was arrested at 3:43 a.m. in the 200 block of East Veterans Parkway in Yorkville. The Kendall County Sheriff's Office charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol after a Sheriff Deputy observed a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot.
