Police Blotter: Strange Lettering; Stolen Propane

Monday, April 25

Driving under the influence

Max J. Obriecht, 18, of the 900 block of Royal Saint George Drive in , was arrested around 11:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of Olympus Drive, police said. He was charged with improper lane use and driving under the influence of alcohol. His bail was set at $3,000.

Warrant arrest

Police said Sirvonzell Everett, 39, of the 1200 block of Haverhill Circle in , was arrested around 6 p.m. at the , 1350 Aurora Ave., on a failure-to-appear warrant. He turned himself in, according to the report. His bail was set at $6,000.

Adam R. Zace, 27, of the 1100 block of Barberry Court in Downers Grove, was arrested around 1 a.m. in the 1800 block of Centre Point Circle on two failure-to-appear warrants, police said. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Strange lettering

Police said that two residents, both living in the 200 block of Cedarbrook Road in , reported that the letters "HCV" were spray-painted in black paint on their vehicles overnight. In both instances, the letters were written on the trunks of the cars while they were parked in the driveway. Police believe someone defaced the vehicles between 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday.

Stolen propane

Police said the manager of a business in the 1100 block of East Ogden Avenue in reported that eight full propane cylinders were missing from an enclosed storage area behind behind the building. The tanks likely were stolen between 10 a.m. April 14 and 8 a.m. Monday, according to the report.

Mystery ding-dong ringers

A 41-year-old man, of the 800 block of Fieldcrest Drive in , reported that someone rang his and several other doorbells between 2 a.m. and 2:15 a.m. The suspects were not located.

Mailbox damage

A 51-year-old woman, of the 3100 block of Seiler Court in , reported Tuesday that early Friday morning, perhaps around midnight, her mailbox had been smashed by a "very heavy object."

Driveway graffiti

Police said a vandal defaced 3-day old concrete in the driveway of a home in the 1500 block of Clyde Drive in . The woman reporting the incident said she believed it occurred some time Sunday.

Possession of controlled substance

Jeffrey R. Dillavou, 21, of the 100 block of Valley Drive in Bolingbrook, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Centre Point Circle, police said. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Mailbox damage wake-up

Police said a 60-year-old woman, of the 2700 block of Crestfield Court in , reported that shortly after 2 a.m., she awoke to a loud noise that sounded like something heavy had crashed onto concrete outside her residence. She then heard screeching tires and a car revving its engine, according to the report. "When I was alert enough to get out of bed and look out the window, the car was gone and I saw that my mailbox had been totally destroyed," the woman said in the report. She said the post had been broken in half and the mailbox pieces had exploded into the street. The mailbox had a large hole punctured in its side.
