Police Blotter: Stolen Soap, Vehicle Vandalism, Missing American Flag

Tuesday, July 5

Warrant arrest

Ilene Bitton, 41, of the 200 block of Sycamore Drive was arrested at 12:01 a.m. in the 1300 block of Aurora Avenue and charged on an original warrant for contempt of court, police said. Her bond was $150.

Criminal defacement of property

Maxwell George Wright, 20, of the 800 block of Morningside Drive, was arrested at 5:26 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Jefferson Avenue and charged with criminal defacement of property, police said. His bail was $1,500.

Scott Robert Bostrom, 21, of the 1200 block of Wilshire Drive was arrested at 5:26 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Jefferson Avenue and charged with criminal defacement of property. His bail was $1,500.

Criminal trespass to vehicle

Eric Cage, 18, of the 100 block of Testa Drive and Christopher McGee, 18, of the 0 block of Testa Drive, were arrested at 10:12 p.m. at W. Jefferson Avenue and S. Mill Street, according to police. Cage was charged with speeding and criminal trespass to a vehicle. His bond was $120. McGee was charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle. Cage and McGee were arrested after being stopped in a vehicle that the registered owner did not give them permission to be in.

Theft

A 47-year-old woman in the 2300 block of Foxboro Lane reported that between 10:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. Monday someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took her T-mobile cell phone valued at $100, police said.

Someone reported in the 600 block of Amersale Drive that between 3:57 p.m. Monday and 2:03 p.m. Tuesday a man took 13 bottles of Dove Body Wash without paying, police said.

A 20-year-old man reported that he left his wallet on a counter at Ribfest and it was stolen between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Monday, police said.

It was reported at 7:41 p.m. in the 2500 block of W. 75th Street a man entered a store took a tag off a hat and wore it, put a belt around his stomach and pulled his shirt over to conceal it and also put a pair of socks in his pants pocket and attempted to leave the store without paying for the items, police said.

A man reported that as he was boarding the Metra train to Chicago in the 100 block of 4th Avenue on Friday he noticed his wallet was missing from his pocket, police said.

A 53-year-old man in the 1200 block of Arthur Road reported that between Saturday and Sunday someone went into his 2005 Ford Mustang and contents were stolen, police said. He said his son may have left the car unlocked. Missing were an Under Armour workout bag, shorts, shirt and nutritional supplements.

A 62-year-old man in the 200 block of Cedarbrook Road reported that overnight Tuesday his American flag was stolen, police said. He said it was a pattern of incidents that have been ongoing for several months including having a birdbath taken from the back yard, flower arrangements on the property trashed and the mailbox being damaged several times a year.

Vandalism

A 46-year-old man in the 2200 block of Glouceston Lane reported that between 11 p.m. Monday and 5:30 a.m. Tuesday someone scratched an expletive on his Audi and then cut the convertible top of his Volkswagen and also scratched several places on the car, police said.

Someone in the 2400 block of Foxboro Lane reported that between 7 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway and rifled through the glove box but took nothing, police said. But they used a sharp object to cut a large hole in the driver’s seat and also scratched an expletive on the hood and let air out of the front driver’s tire.

A 32-year-old man in the 2300 block of Foxboro Lane reported between 5 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday that someone put three large scratches into the passenger side door, police said. Cost to repair the damage was $150.

Suspicious incident

A 27-year-old woman in the 3900 block of Mallard Lane reported between 12:01 a.m. June 17 and 5 p.m. June 20 that an apparent residential burglary and suspicious incident took place, police said.

Illegal dumping

Someone in the 1200 block of S. Naper Blvd reported between 1:05 and 1:32 p.m. that two men dumped ceramic tiles in a business dumpster, police said.

Property damage

A woman in the 1000 block of Lakewood Circle reported that the mailbox was damaged overnight from Monday to Tuesday, police said.
