Police Blotter: Stolen Plants, Theft of Fuel, Warrant Arrests

Naperville Police Department reports for June 22.

Wednesday, June 22

Suspended license

Maurice Ameer Ballard, 37, of the 500 block of Hoyles Avenue in Aurora, was arrested at 11:21 a.m. at Ogden and Jefferson avenues, according to police. He was charged on a warrant, driving on a suspended/revoked license and speeding over the limit.

Maurice Lee Turner, 28, of the 10 block of North Ohio Street, Aurora, was arrested at midnight in the 200 block of S. Route 59, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license and operating an uninsured vehicle.

Battery

Ignaciol Cervantes, 29, of the 200 block of Shadywood in Elk Grove Village, was arrested at 12:45 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Naper Boulevard and East 75th Street, police said. He was charged with simple battery.

Warrant arrest

Scott Robert Staffeldt, 34, of the 100 block of East Meadow in Cortland, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. in the 4000 block of South Route 59, police said. He was charged on eight outstanding warrants and driving on a suspended/revoked license. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Theft of fuel

Police said Valencia Marie Cooper, 35, of the 100 block of Robinhood Way, Bolingbrook was arrested at 2:06 a.m. at  . and charged with theft of fuel and retail theft. Her bail was set at $1,500.

Refusal to pay

A 28-year-old man in the 700 block of Royal St. George Drive reported that between 2:45 and 3:45 a.m. a person failed to pay cab fare after a round-trip ride to Maywood, according to police.

Theft

A 60-year-old woman in the 1300 block of Creighton Avenue reported that between May 15 and Saturday someone removed a diamond pendant necklace from her home.

A 51-year-old woman in the 1400 block of Royal Saint George Drive reported Wednesday the theft of two planters with flowers from the front of the residence from between June 13 and 16, police said. Budweiser cans were left at the scene.

Property damage

A 56-year-old-man in the 500 block of Eagle Brook Lane reported that sometime between Saturday and Tuesday unknown vandals broke off and removed the flag from the mailbox, police said.

A 47-year-old woman in the 3700 block of Timber Creek Lane reported Wednesday that between 7 p.m. June 14 and 7 a.m. June 15 a vandal broke off the flag on her mailbox.

A 48-year-old man in the 3200 block of Keller Lane reported Wednesday that between June 1 and June 14 the flag on his mailbox was broken off, police said.  He didn’t notice it right away.

A caller reported in the 500 block of South Washington Street that between 4:45 and 4:50 p.m. a glass in a rear door was broken.

Vehicles egged

A 65-year-old woman in the 2700 block of Sheridan Court reported that between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 10:48 a.m. Wednesday two vehicles were egged while parked in her driveway, according to police. One of the vehicles had the air let out of the tire and an unknown adhesive placed around the fuel tank door.

Stolen fuel

Someone reported in the 800 block of West 75th Street from 12 p.m. Monday and 11 a.m. Wednesday that 20 gallons of regular gasoline were missing from a bus fuel tank, according to police.

Online scam

A resident in the 0 block of Salt River Court reported that her 21-year-old son bought items from eBay with a PayPal account and he received an empty box stuffed with XFINITY fliers, according to police.

Stolen bike

A 29-year-old man in the 800 block of Pomeroon Street reported that between 3:30 and 9 p.m. his bike was stolen and a flat tire was left in its place, police said.
