Police Blotter: Missing 12-gauge Shotgun and a Brown Paper Bag

The following information was provided by the Naperville Police Department for Sept. 10-12. Individuals who are listed in the Police Blotter have been charged with a crime but have not been proven guilty in court.

Friday, Sept. 10
POSSESSION OF DRUGS
Ricky Moten, 22, of Hillside, was arrested around 2:20 a.m. near the intersection of Interstate 88 and North Route 59. He was charged with failure to use a turn signal, illegal lane use, possession of less than 2.5 grams of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, driving under the influence of drugs, driving under the influence of alcohol and violating a traffic control device.

THEFT
A 69-year-old man reported around 11:30 a.m. that a 12-gauge shotgun was missing from the basement rafters of his home in the 100 block of Sheppey Court. He said he believes the weapon was stolen some time between Feb. 12 and the time he filed the police report Friday. The man reported he did not notice the weapon was missing until recently.

DAMAGE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE
A 50-year-old man reported around 1 p.m. damage to the rear window of his silver 2007 BMW that was parked in the 1700 block of Blockpark Street. He suspected the window was broken between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Police were unable to determine if criminal intent, a bird, or weakness in the glass was to blame for the damage.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Kevin M. Rejmenczak, 29, of Aurora, was arrested around 7 p.m. in a parking lot in the 1500 block of West Ogden Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transportation of alcohol after a caller reported that he had been asleep in his vehicle for several hours.

Pablo A. Arellano, 29, of Naperville, was arrested around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Benedetti and Pacific drives and charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of illegal lane use and failure to signal.

Regina M. Vlach, 39, of Naperville, was arrested around 11:50 p.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and North Aurora Avenue after police said she stopped in the roadway after pulling out of a nearby gas station and barely missed striking a police car. She was charged with failure to yield and two counts of driving under the influence.

Robert C. McAlister, 20, of Orland Park, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Brainard Street. He was charged with operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and two counts of driving under the influence after his vehicle lost control and struck a tree in the parkway.

PUBLIC URINATION
Thomas Arrigo, no age or hometown given, was arrested around 10:40 p.m. in the first block of Jefferson Avenue and charged with urinating on the tire of a vehicle in the parking lot of a downtown restaurant.

ILLEGAL TRANSPORTATION OF ALCOHOL
Renael Hooper, 44, of Aurora, was arrested around 9:55 p.m. at an unspecified location and was charged with display of a fraudulent insurance card, illegal transportation of open alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving without wearing a seat belt.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Akshat Khare, 17, of Bolingbrook, was arrested around 10 a.m. at an unspecified location. He was charged with aggravated battery to a government official/employee.

SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

A 45-year-old man in the 600 block of South Wright Street reported around 7 a.m. that an unknown person deposited a brown paper bag with what appeared to be human feces in his fenced-in back yard. He said the bag was found floating in his in-ground pool. He said he believed it was placed there between 9 p.m. Sept. 10 and the time he filed the report on Saturday.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Robert A. McDonald, 25, of Romeoville, was arrested around 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of Washington Street and Jefferson Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct.

Kristen E. Setinc, 23, of Naperville, was arrested around 1:20 a.m. in the 100 block of South Washington Street. She was charged with disorderly conduct for making "offensive utterances" that disrupted a neighborhood.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
Audrey L. Bennet, 29, of Lisle, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. in the 900 block of East Ogden Avenue on three DuPage County warrants. She was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Bradley R. Hunt, 35, of Merrillville, Ind., was arrested around 2:10 a.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and North Aurora Avenue and charged with driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license and failure to use a turn signal.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A 52-year-old man reported that around 1:50 a.m. in the 2000 block of Templar Drive, two male teenagers wearing white T-shirts and jeans kicked over a mailbox. They reportedly caused about $100 in damage. The two ran behind a set of houses and were not apprehended, the report said.


Sunday, Sept. 12
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Mark D. Hooker, 20, of Tinley Park, was arrested around 2:40 a.m. at an unspecified location. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of improper lane use, failure to use a turn signal, no rear registration plate light, following too closely and making an improper turn at an intersection.

Maribel Lozano, 30, of Chicago, was arrested around 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of Royce Road and South Washington Street and charged with two counts of driving under the influence.

WARRANT ARREST
Daniel Huerta, 55, of North Aurora, was arrested around 12:45 a.m. near the intersection of 83rd Street and Route 59. He was charged with obstructing identification after providing false information to police to avoid arrest on an outstanding warrant.

Brian W. Vicich, 54, of Woodridge, was arrested around 2:40 p.m. in the 700 block of East Ogden Avenue on an original warrant.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
An unknown motorist reportedly drove onto the center median and struck a road sign around 3:15 a.m. near the intersection of Raymond and River roads.

Trevor Zirkin, 20, of Hanover Park, reportedly heard that Jared Epstein, 22, hometown not listed, was spreading rumors about him. Zirkin confronted Epstein around 11:20 p.m. in front of a group of other men in the parking lot of Walgreens, 3035 Book Rd. Epstein attempted to drive away and Zirkin punched his vehicle, causing a large dent. Zirkin was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
Victim reported that around 6:30 a.m., two 15 to 18-year-old males attempted to enter his storage shed on his property in the 1000 block of Magnolia Lane. Both suspects ran eastbound toward Elmwood Elementary School after dropping blankets they were holding.

HIT AND RUN
A 23-year-old reported a hit and run around 1:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Route 59. A driver backed into her car as it was parked. She believes the incident occurred between 12:15 and 1:10 p.m.

FIGHTING
Mark Rychlik, 21, of Naperville, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Main Street and charged with fighting.
