Police Blotter: Late-Night Peeper, Missing Envelope of Cash

Monday, Feb. 28

Warrant arrest

Police said Jose J. Alvarado Gonzalez, 25, of the 4900 block of Kildare Avenue in Lisle, was arrested around 4:10 a.m. near the intersection of Aurora Avenue and South Route 59 on a warrant out of DuPage County. His bail was set at $9,000.

Deception

Ronell R. Griffith, 22, of the 7900 block of South Lawrence Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around noon at the Cook County Jail, 3015 S. California Ave., Chicago, on an original warrant, police said. He was charged with theft/deception.

Forgery

Police said Rodger Smith, 49, of the 1300 block of South Normal Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around noon at the Cook County Jail 3015 S. California Ave., Chicago, on an original warrant. He was charged with forgery.

Spray painted star

A 47-year-old woman, of the 1800 block of Princeton Circle in , reported that someone had spray painted a five-point star on her fence, police said. The woman said she believed someone vandalized the fence between 10 a.m. Sunday and 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Late-night peeper

A 41-year-old man, of the 1600 block of Country Lakes Drive in , reported that around 1:40 a.m., he saw a man looking into the windows of one of the apartment buildings on his block. The man said the suspect was wearing a red knit hat, a black leather coat and blue jeans. Police said they did not find the man.

Westminster Drive car burglaries

Police said a 23-year-old woman, whose car was parked in the 1500 block of Westminster Drive in , reported that someone broke the driver's side window of her 2005 Honda CRV to take her Garmin GPS device. She called police about the break-in around 8:15 a.m.

A 44-year-old woman, of the 1600 block of Westminster Drive in , reported that someone shattered the driver's side window of her 2004 Nissan Quest. Her Garmin Nuvi GPS was taken during the burglary, police said. The woman said she believed the crime occurred between 8 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.

Missing envelope of cash

A 23-year-old woman, who was at a business in the 800 block of South Route 59 in , reported that she left a bank envelope with $700 cash in it on the counter after paying for her groceries. Police said that when the woman went back, the envelope was gone. She said she believed it was stolen between 9 p.m. Thursday and 11:30 a.m. Friday.
