Police Blotter: Graffiti, Missing Wedding Band and Vehicle Burglaries

Wednesday, Sept. 7

Driving under the influence

Shelley P. Alexander, 38, of the 15000 block of Sunnymere Drive, Plainfield, was arrested at 10:15 a.m. at North Mill Street and Bauer Road on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Suspended/revoked license

James McKinley Joiner, 29, of the 2000 block of Sycamore Avenue, Hanover Park, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. in the 600 block of Raymond Drive and West Ogden Avenue on charges of driving without a rear license plate light, driving on a suspended/revoked license and driving without insurance. His bail was $2,000.

Vehicle burglary

  • A 33-year-old woman in the 2100 block of Fulham Drive reported that someone entered her vehicle between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6:23 a.m. Wednesday, police said. A GPS and a box of T-shirts were taken and the car’s passenger-side door was scratched.
  • A 36-year-old woman in the 2700 block of Stockton Road reported a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle between 9 p.m. Tuesday and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
  • A 40-year-old woman in the 800 block of Amherst Court reported that between 5 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, an unlocked vehicle was entered and a purse was stolen from the front seat, police said.

Theft

A 26-year-old woman in the 700 block of Benedetti Drive reported that between 8 p.m. Aug. 3 and 9 p.m. Sept. 3, a man’s white gold wedding band with a half-carat in diamonds was taken from a jewelry chest in the bedroom closet. The ring was valued at about $949, police said.

Criminal damage to property

A 32-year-old woman in the 1800 block of West Jefferson Avenue reported that a 2000 Nissan Pathfinder was scratched on its hood while in a parking lot between Aug. 31 and Sept. 3, police said.

Criminal defacement of property

A 63-year-old woman in the 800 block of Lilac Lane reported a realty sign was defaced and the sidewalk was defaced with black graffiti that looked like an armadillo, police said.
