Police Blotter: Excessive Speeding, Lost Purse, Thwarted Burglary Attempt

Excessive speeding

Thomas Peter Kaminski, 18, of the 700 block of Dulles Road in Des Plaines, was arrested at 12:18 a.m. at W. Ogden Avenue and Fort Hill Drive, police said. He was speeding more than 30 miles per hour over the speed limit.

Driving under the influence

Aleksandra Szymaniak, 52, of the 55000 block of Pebblewood Lane, was arrested at 9:51 p.m. at Cantore Road and South Route 59, police said. She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, not wearing a seat belt, driving without a license and illegal possession/transportation of liquor by a driver. Her bail was $3,000.

Criminal damage to property

  • Someone reported that between 7 p.m. Monday and 6 a.m. Tuesday someone damaged an exterior light on the south side of the school in the 1200 block of Sanctuary Lane. The light was valued at $100.
  • A 35-year-old woman in the 1200 block of Diehl Road reported that between 7:45 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday someone keyed the driver’s side front and rear doors of a 2010 BMW, police said.

Vehicle burglarized

  • A 59-year-old woman reported that Coach sunglasses were taken from the front seat of a vehicle while it was parked at Keller’s Farm Stand in the 500 block of Knoch Knolls Road sometime between 3:30 and 4 p.m. Monday, police said.
  • A 55-year-old man in the 800 block of Riva Ridge Court reported at 3 p.m. that he found two men in his garage, police said. The men fled and the resident found his wife’s purse on the driveway. There was nothing missing.

Lost property

A 50-year-old woman in the 3100 block of White Eagle Drive reported that between 4 and 4:20 p.m. she left her purse on the roof of her vehicle and lost it between her home and 75th Street and Plainfield-Naperville Road, police said.
