Police Blotter: Drugs, Burglary, Missing Bike

Naperville Police Department reports for May 26, May 29, May 31, June 1.

Wednesday, June 1

Driving-related arrest

Jeffrey W. Goodwin, 55, of the 300 block of Seventh Avenue in Lagrange was arrested around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Washington Street and West 87th Street in Naperville, police said. He was charged with using a wireless phone while in a school/construction zone, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and driving on a suspended/revoked license, according to police. Goodwin’s bond was set at $2,000.

Sharon D. Kindred, 22, of the 2900 block of Stockton Court in Naperville was arrested around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of 95th Street and Showplace Drive, police said. Kindred was charged with failure to use a turn signal and driving without a valid driver's license, according to police. Her bail was set at $1,500.

Drug-related arrest

Carlos Torres, 37, of the 7700 block of 45th Place in Lyons was arrested around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of 43rd Street and Amelia Avenue in Lyons, police said. Torres was charged with manufacturing and intent to deliver 30 to 500 grams of cannabis, police said. His bail was set at $10,000.

Adam Paul Cappello, 19, of the 0 block of West Bailey Road in Naperville was arrested around 12:30 a.m. at his home and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis greater than 2.5 grams, but less than 10 grams, police said. His bail was set at $1,500.

Madison Ashely Cortright, 18, of the 100 block of Foxcroft Road in Naperville was arrested around 12:30 a.m. at the 0 block of West Bailey Road in Naperville, police said. She was charged with possession of cannabis greater than 2.5 grams, but less than 10 grams, according to police. Cortright’s bail was set at $1,500.

Ashton Geoffrey Rozelle, 18, of the 1100 block of South Whispering Hills Drive in Naperville was arrested around 12:30 a.m. at the 0 block of West Bailey Road in Naperville, police said. Rozelle was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis greater than 2.5 grams, but less than 10 grams, police said. His bail was set at $1,500.

Retail theft

Xochil Balderas, 41, of the 5700 block of West 64th Place in Chicago was arrested around 1:30 p.m. at the 500 block of Fort Hill Drive in Naperville and was charged with retail theft, police said. Balderas' bail was set at $120.

Mailbox damage

A 54-year-old man of the 5300 block of Catclaw Court in Naperville reported his mailbox was tilted to the ground by unknown person(s) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., police said.

Burglary

A 59-year-old woman living in the 200 block of Pier Avenue in Naperville reported a burglary between 9 p.m. May 31 and 3:30 a.m. June 1. She said a GPS unit was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle inside an open garage, according to police.

A 48-year-old woman of the 5900 block of Rosinweed Lane in Naperville reported that she believed her unlocked vehicle was entered and rummaged through between the hours of 11 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday. She said she believed nothing was taken from her vehicle, police said.

Tuesday, May 31

Damage to property

A 62-year-old woman reported her car was vandalized while parked in the Amtrak parking area at the Metra Station located at Washington Street and East Fifth Avenue in Naperville. She said she believed the vandalism occurred between 3 p.m. May 26 and 2:45 p.m. Tuesday.

A 71-year-old man of the 2500 block of Indian Grass Court in Naperville reported one of his flower pots was smashed around 10:30 p.m., police said.

Burglary

A 41-year-old man of the 4500 block of Pipestone Court in Naperville reported a burglary from a mobile vehicle between 10 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, police said.

Sunday, May 29

Theft

A 54-year-old man of the 700 block of Benedetti Drive in Naperville said he believed someone stole his rear license plate between the hours of 12 a.m. and 8 a.m.

A 46-year-old man of the 2300 block of West 87th Street in Naperville reported he believed his son’s bike went missing between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m., police said. He said his son rode the bike to the pool and left it there. He reported his son had an accident at the pool and was taken to the hospital from the pool. The man said when he returned home he discovered the bike was not at his house. He said when he returned to the pool the bike was gone.

May 26

Theft

A 38-year-old woman of the 100 block of East Bailey Road in Naperville reported the theft of keys her keys between the hours of 1 a.m. and 8 a.m., police said. She said she left two keys on a bulletin board at apartment complex for boyfriend to retrieve. She said she believed the keys were taken sometime during the overnight hours.
