Police Blotter: Disappearing Umbrella and a Car Gets Keyed

The following information was provided by the Naperville Police Department for Sept. 15.

Wednesday, Sept. 15
MISSING PROPERTY
A 35-year-old woman reported around 3:30 p.m. that her sport umbrella was missing from her front porch in the 1100 block of Cordula Circle. She said she believed the umbrella was stolen between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

DAMAGE TO A MOTOR VEHICLE
A 23-year-old woman reported that her car had been damaged when parked in a parking garage in the first block of East Chicago Avenue a few days earlier. She said she believed her car had been kicked and keyed between 1 p.m. and 10 p.m. Sept. 12.

HIT AND RUN
A 38-year-old woman reported around 2:30 p.m. that her vehicle was struck in the 1500 block of Warbler Drive by an unknown motorist who fled the scene thereafter.

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Jose G. Valenzuela, 30, of Lisle, was arrested around 11:10 p.m. near the intersection of Ogden Avenue and Naper Boulevard. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of disobeying a traffic signal, crossing the double yellow lines and driving without a valid driver's license.

RETAIL THEFT
Joseph L. Armstrong, 35, of Aurora, was arrested around 11:15 p.m. in the 1300 block of Aurora Avenue and charged with retail theft.
