Police Blotter: Cigarette Thievery; Vanishing Cash

Possession of marijuana

Cassius K. Washington, 20, of the 6000 block of South Stony Island in Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Route 59 and Meridian Lakes Drive, police said. He was charged with driving without wearing a seat belt, driving with a suspended or revoked license and possession of marijuana. His bail was set at $1,500.

Cigarette thievery

Police said that a 46-year-old man reported that Drive Thru Cigarettes, 407 E. Ogden Ave., , was burglarized around 2 a.m. They said someone threw a rock and a paving brick through a window on the east side of the building. Several cartons of cigarettes were reported missing.

Vanishing cash

Police said that someone reported money missing from a business in the 1300 block of North Mill Street around 8:30 a.m. They said that someone removed cash from a bank bag that was in an office desk drawer. "Knowledge of the money in the desk was limited to only a few employees," stated the report. Police didn't specify how much cash was missing.
