Police Blotter: Chalk Drawings, Bashed Mailboxes, Unlocked Vehicles Burgled

Naperville Police Department reports, Jan. 6-8

Friday, Jan. 6

Driving under the influence

Karine Helene Malec, 36, of the 1000 block of Thackery Lane, was arrested at 6:19 p.m. at West Ogden Avenue and Fort Hill Drive,  said. She was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and improper lane use. Her bond was $100. 

Possession

  • Scott William Barger, 18, of the 500 block of Chester Court in Aurora, was arrested at 1:07 a.m. at Brookdale Road and Beaver Drive, police said. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, consumption of liquor by a minor, possession of a false ID card and possession of cannabis. His bond was $120.
  • John Isidro Calderon, 33, of the 1500 block of North Exposition Avenue in Aurora, was arrested at 4:57 p.m. at Shore Road and Golf Ridge Circle, police said. He was charged with possession of cannabis, less than 2.5 grams, driving on a suspended/revoked license, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding over the limit and driving without insurance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail.

Retail theft

Brandon Alexander Wandick, 19, of the 800 block of Symphony Drive in Aurora, was arrested at 12:57 p.m. at Walmart, 776 South Route 59, where police said he was charged with retail theft. His bail was $1,500. 

Criminal trespass

Jon Philip Boyes, 28, of the 1600 block of Country Lakes Drive, was arrested at 4:33 a.m. in the 700 block of Inland Circle, police said. He was charged with criminal trespass to a building and possession of burglary tools. His bail was $1,500.

Warrant arrest

  • Aaron Thomas Bundy, 23, of the 3000 block of Serenity Lane was arrested at 9:26 p.m. at his home, police said. He was charged with a failure to appear warrant from Will County. He was taken to the Will County Jail.
  • Liliana Nmi Leiija, 24, of the 100 block of North 14th Avenue in Melrose Park, was arrested at 9:44 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Route 59 and McDowell Road, police said. She was charged with driving without insurance and driving with a suspended license. She was also charged on an original warrant. Her bond was $375.

Suspended license

Andrew Terrell Thomas, 33, of the 100 block of North Parkside in Chicago, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. at Beebe Drive and South Route 59, police said. He was charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license. His bail was $1,500.

Criminal damage

  • A 43-year-old man in the 400 block of Westglen Drive reported that someone damaged his mailbox overnight, police said.
  • A 49-year-old man in the 1400 block of Siebert Court reported a mailbox was damaged overnight, police said.
  • A 36-year-old woman in the 1400 block of Siebert Court reported that a mailbox was stolen from its post overnight, police said.
  • A 52-year-old man in the 1400 block of Siebert Court reported to police that a mailbox and post were damaged overnight.
  • A 37-year-old man in the 1300 block of Cortland Drive reported that someone damaged his mailbox post overnight, according to police reports.

Burglary

  • A 54-year-old woman in the 900 block of Amberwood Circle reported that someone entered the open garage while she was away and removed a bicycle, police said. The bike was stolen between Dec. 29 and 31.
  • A 55-year-old woman in the 1300 block of Calvin Court reported that her unlocked vehicle was entered and her wallet and checkbook were taken, according to police.
  • A 43-year-old woman in the 1700 block of Ontario Avenue reported that her purse was taken from her unlocked vehicle, police said. Her purse contained an iPhone, driver’s license and other items.
Saturday, Jan. 7

Battery

Michael Benton Haines, 23, of the 25000 block of Windsor Drive, Edwardsburg, MI, was arrested at 11:45 p.m. in the first block of West Jefferson Avenue, police said. He was charged with two counts of battery and criminal trespass to a building. He battered two security staff members, police said. His bond was $150.

Driving under the influence

Adam Christopher Bochmann, 37, of the 300 block of Meadow Green Drive, was arrested at his home, police said. He was charged with operating a vehicle without insurance, improper lane use, illegal possession/transportation of liquor by a driver, aggravated driving under the influence and driving with a revoked/suspended license, second offense. He was taken to the Will County Jail.

Warrant arrest

  • Norma Alvarez, 35, of the 500 block of West Benton Avenue, was arrested at 7:38 p.m. at her home, police said. She was charged on a failure to appear warrant. She was taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Charles Tyrone Johnson, 19, of the 2900 block of Rutland Circle, was arrested at 4:44 p.m. at his home, police said. He was Charged on a failure to appear warrant from DuPage County. His bail was $1,000.

Criminal damage

  • A 40-year-old woman in the 100 block of Tupelo Avenue reported that someone shattered the rear window of her Dodge Caravan overnight, police said. It appeared to be damaged by a BB Gun pellet.
  • A 59-year-old man in the 200 block of Covington Court reported that the side of his house was splashed with yellow paint between Jan. 4 and 6.

Burglary

A 66-year-old woman in the 2900 block of Audrey Avenue reported someone entered her vehicle while she was out shopping at a number of stores, she wasn’t sure which, and they stole mail and store club cards from in between the driver’s seat and center console.

Sunday, Jan. 8

Driving under the influence

  • Rolando Alberto Garcia, 25, of the 1700 block of Ivy Hill Court in Romeoville, was arrested at 2:33 a.m. at South Washington Street and Royce Road, police said. He was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, muffler defects-no muffler and improper lane use. His bond was $100.
  • Karuna Talwar, 39, of the 900 block of Valley Drive in Lake Forest, was arrested at 12:52 a.m. at South Washington Street and East Franklin Avenue, police said. She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal possession/transportation of liquor by a driver, improper parking and operation of a vehicle while texting. Her bail was $3,000.
  • Jennifer Leticia Pyburn, 30, of the 1200 block of Durham Drive in Aurora, was arrested at 3:35 a.m. in the 1600 block of Country Lakes Drive, police said. She was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without insurance and illegal possession/transportation of liquor by a driver. Her bond was $100. 

Possession

Anthony Lois Colon, 19, of the 1500 block of Fairway Drive, was arrested at 4:42 a.m. in the 1800 block of Santa Fe Drive, police said. He was charged with possession of cannabis, more than 10 grams. His bail was $1,500.

Warrant arrest

Ganzorig Lkhagvajav, 26, of the 300 block of Walnut Street in Batavia, was arrested at 10:54 p.m. at West Ogden Avenue and Raymond Drive, police said. He was charged on a failure to appear warrant. His bond was $375.

Suspended license

Azucena Mora Perez, 26, of the 800 block of South Neltnor in West Chicago, was arrested at 2:23 a.m. at Aurora Avenue and South Route 59, police said. She was charged with failing to reduce speed/driving too fast for conditions, no insurance—operating under a suspension, driving on a suspended/revoked license and operating a vehicle while uninsured. Her bail was $3,000.

Vehicle burglary

A 33-year-old man in the 2400 block of Sheehan Drive reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle overnight and took items valued at $695, police said.

Theft

A 55-year-old man reported that he left his vehicle in the first block of Chicago Avenue and later discovered that the hood ornament was missing.

Criminal damage

  • A 31-year-old woman reported that someone destroyed her mailbox between Thursday and Friday, police reported.
  • A 73-year-old man in the 1000 block of Thunderbird Lane reported that his mailbox was destroyed by a blunt object overnight, police said.
  • Several residents in the 300 block of Pearson Circle reported that mailboxes had been smashed, police said. Residents in the 700 block of Morningside Drive also reported that mailboxes were damaged in the neighborhood.

Juvenile nuisance

  • A 50-year-old woman reported her teen’s car was left in the driveway and it was egged, police said.
  • Residents in the 2200 block of Oberlin Court woke to find the driveway had been written on with sidewalk chalk with phrases like “senior gang,” “poop” pictures of pigs. There was no serious damage but the resident said it was an inconvenience and annoyance to have to clean the driveway with water, according to police reports.
