Over 300 Citations Issued in the OPD Extra Traffic Enforcement Detail

The enforcement was funded by a STEP Grant through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The Oswego Police Department recently concluded their extra traffic enforcement detail, which was funded through a Step Grant provided by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The enforcement period, which was conducted between August 17 and September 3, focused on the use of seat belts and child restraints. Police wrote citations for the following violations: 

  • 253 – Safety Belt
  • 21 – Uninsured Motorist
  • 15 – Speeding
  • 8 – Child Restraint
  • 7 – Equipment
  • 7 – Suspended/Revoked License
  • 5 – No Valid Driver’s License
  • 5 – Other moving
  • 4 – Warrants
  • 4 – Other Alcohol Related
  • 1 – Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Oswego police will continue to apply for grants to fund extra patrols, which assist in providing for the safety of those traveling throughout the village.

I really shock that there is 253 people like they are Superman-woman. And kudos for only finding only 1 DUI out out this time frame.

Was this a result of Dwight Baird needing more funds for his pension since Mayor Brian said he couldn't do it through 2 new Red Light Cameras?
