OMG PD: Patriotic Plunderer, Punch and Run

A roundup of unusual crimes in Naperville.

Someone set fire to a yard waste bag near the rear of , which melted a plastic drain pipe attached to the school in the 3200 block of Tall Grass Drive, police said. 

A mailbox was stolen in the 1000 block of East Hillside Road, police said.

Someone broke off and a stole a mailbox post with an American flag mailbox attached to it from a home in the 600 block of De LaSalle Avenue, police said.

Duane Douglas Parker, 52, of the 1100 block of North Farnsworth Avenue in Aurora, was arrested at 6:25 p.m. in the 700 block of Fort Hill Drive, police said. He was charged with retail theft and battery after attempting to steal a wireless alarm system. When confronted by security, he dropped the system in the parking lot, punched the guard in the face and fled area area on foot. He was transported to DuPage County Jail.

Michael Eugen Hardin, 48, of the 800 block of East Ogden Avenue, was arrested at 4:03 p.m. in the 100 block of East Ogden Avenue. He was charged with theft after a bottle of vodka was found in his pants,  said. His bond was $120.
