Not Guilty Plea Entered in Fake Attorney Case
Woodridge man accused of taking thousands for supposed legal work.
A Woodridge man has pleaded not guilty to charges he pretended to be an attorney and took money from clients for his supposed legal services.
Court records show Michael Gardner, 54, was indicted earlier this month on three counts of impersonating an attorney and three counts of theft after convincing a couple and another area woman he was a lawyer.
Prosecutors allege Gardner—who does not appear as ever being registered with the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission—took thousands for legal work in 2010.
