Cause of Garage Fire in Unincorporated Naperville Determined

Crews responded to garage fire Friday morning in southeast Naperville.

A Friday morning garage fire in unincorporated southeast Naperville was caused by the improper deposit of "smoking materials," according to the Naperville Fire Department. 

Firefighters responded to 28 W 556 Juanita Dr. around 9:57 a.m. Friday after a neighbor called 911 and reported black smoke coming from an attached garage of the two-story home, according to the fire department.


Crews arrived to the scene within eight minutes to find smoke and a fire contained to the garage of the two-story home, Naperville Fire Department Capt. Thomas Oker said Friday.

A total of 26 fire personnel responded to the scene and laid 1000 feet of hose to fight the fire, according to the fire department.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes and crews remained on the scene for about an hour before packing up as neighbors looked on Friday.

No one was injured and estimated damage is $35,000, according to the fire department.
