Man Charged with Assaulting Teen, Battering Mother in Naperville

Darren Jermaine Kirkland of Endicott, NY, remained in DuPage County Jail on Tuesday.

A New York man was charged Monday with criminal sexual abuse and domestic battery in Naperville, police said.

Darren Jermaine Kirkland, 26, of the 2500 block of Witherhill Street in Endicott, NY, was arrested at 9:45 a.m. in the 200 block of East Bailey Road, according to Naperville police reports.

He was charged with domestic battery, which causes physical harm, domestic battery-makes physical contact, and aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a person five or more years older than a victim between the ages of 13 to 16. He remained in DuPage County Jail on Tuesday afternoon.

Kirkland traveled to Naperville to see a woman he met online, according to a story in the Daily Herald. He molested the woman’s daughter and became violent when the mother confronted him, according to reports.

According to the DuPage County Sheriff's Office, Kirkland must post $10,000 bond in order to be released.
