New Statistics Show Increase in Robberies and Burglaries Last Year

While some areas of crime decreased, the FBI's release of its annual Uniform Crime Report showed other incidents were on the rise.

New statistics released Monday reflect an increase in robberies and burglaries last year in Naperville, according to the FBI's Preliminary Annual Uniform Crime Report.

The report shows burglaries were up from 219 in 2010 to 300 last year, while robberies increased from 13 to 24. There were two murders in 2011, up from none the year before. Property crimes were also on the rise from 2065 in 2010 to 2110 last year.

On the bright side, the FBI report shows an overall decrease in violent crime from 126 to 112 and motor vehicle theft from 60 to 42 incidents in 2011 as compared to the year before. Reports of forcible rape, aggravated assault and theft also dropped.
