Naperville Police to Crackdown on Drunk Drivers During Holidays

When it comes to drinking and driving during the holidays, the Naperville Police Department is warning drivers to "drive sober, or get pulled over."

Beginning Friday, Dec. 20, police will be participating in a crackdown through Jan. 5 in an effort to stop impaired driving as well as seat belt violations.

Naperville Sgt. Al Trotsky said officers will be "aggressively looking for drunk drivers during the crackdown and will arrest anyone caught driving drunk. In addition, front and back seat belt law violators will be ticketed," according to a news release.

Police also warned that drivers should use good judgement before getting behind the wheel.

“The December holiday season is the ‘most wonderful time of the year,’ and we are going to keep our roads safe for travelers heading to visit friends and family,” Sgt. Trotsky said in a release. “This holiday, we will show zero tolerance for drunk drivers on the road. If you choose to drive drunk, we will see you, we will stop you and you will be arrested.”

The crackdown is funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to the police department.
