If you’ve always wanted to go behind the scenes and assist local police, the Naperville Police Department is now recruiting volunteers for Community Radio Watch volunteer group.
The Naperville Community Radio Watch was established in 1982 by the police department utilizing a group of citizen volunteers who were interested in helping their community during the citizen band radio craze.
Community Radio Watch members receive specialized training from the police department. Since its inception, members have logged thousands of patrol hours acting as additional eyes and ears for the Naperville Police Department. Volunteers must be 25 years old and live or work in Naperville.
The Community Radio Watch is hosting an open house from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Naperville Police Department, 1350 Aurora Ave. Members will answer questions about the program and provide a facility tour. Anyone interested in attending should email the group at NapervilleCRW@yahoo.com.
