Naperville Police Bust Suspected Heroin Dealer

Two men carrying more than $1,500 worth of heroin arrested.

Two area men were arrested Tuesday after Police found them with more than $1,500 worth of heroin.

The ’s special operations task force pulled over a driver around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Route 59 and Ferry Road whom they believed was carrying a large amount of heroin, according to a news release.

Police said the driver, later identified as Keith M. Moran, and his passenger, Lionel L. Russell, were returning from Chicago at the time.

Police found 154 foil-wrapped packets of heroin with a street value of $1,540 inside the car, they said.

Moran, 22, of the 1100 block of Camden Lane in Aurora, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance—between 15 and 100 grams of heroin.

Russell, 24, of the 400 block of North Lake Street in Aurora, was charged with illegal possession of liquor by a passenger and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Possession of a controlled substance is a Class 1 felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver is a Class X felony punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

Both men remained in custody Wednesday around 4:45 p.m. Moran's bail was set at $100,000 and Russell's was set at $250,000. Each would have to post 10 percent of that value, or $10,000 and $25,000, respectively, in order to be released.
