Naperville 911: 'We Just Saw It Crash Into the Building'

Police release 911 tapes from the day a plane crashed into a local fitness center. Seven audio clips describe what witnesses saw that day.

Naperville Police released seven audio clips Thursday of 911 calls made when a plane crashed into the XSport Fitness building Oct. 6 near 75th Street and Route 59.

Emergency personnel received the first 911 call at 12:04 p.m., said Cmdr. Mike Anders.

Around noon, Lloyd McKee, 66, and his wife, Maureen McKee, 63, of Aero Estates — a local subdivision which includes a small residential airport — took off in their private airplane for Pittsburgh, Pa., Anders said.

The McKees were pinned inside the plane but speaking to first responders after the crash, officials said, and the aircraft sustained heavy damage. Both were removed from the plane and taken to Edward Hospital for treatment of injuries that officials said were "non-life threatening."

Maureen McKee remained there around 5:15 p.m. Thursday and she was upgraded from fair to good condition around 3:45 p.m., said Edward Hospital spokesman Keith Hartenberger.
