Police: Men Misusing 911 Leads to Arrests

Naperville police said they arrested two men in separate false reporting incidents over the weekend.

Two Naperville men learned this weekend that making 911 calls can lead to an arrest, particularly when determine the calls to be unnecessary.

Over the weekend, two men were arrested in separate incidents. In the first arrest, police apparently weren’t responding quickly enough to 911 calls and in the second incident, a man reported a crime that never happened, according to reports.

Jon M. Kieta, 52, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Oct. 22 after he called 911 eight times, according to police reports. Kieta called to report that his clothes were being stolen from the laundry room at the Stardust Motel. He kept calling back to find out what the police were doing about it, according to reports. The responding officer determined Kieta was intoxicated and arrested him in connection with misusing 911. He was charged with false reporting. His bail was $1,500.

Early Sunday morning, a second man was arrested after he called 911 three times, according to reports. He called to report a murder, according to reports. He was charged with making a false report to 911 and was taken to the Will County Jail. His arrest record was subsequently expunged.
