Mark Lewis Fighting Extradition From Florida

Cathleen Lewis was found dead last month in her Naperville condominium, her brother is facing charges of identity theft.

Mark Lewis, the brother of a 59-year-old woman found beaten to death last month, is fighting extradition back to Will County from Florida, according to a story in the Daily Herald.

On July 14 Lewis was arrested and announced last week that he was awaiting extradition from Escambia County Jail, Naperville Patch .

Lewis, who is facing charges of identity theft, was arrested after law enforcement officials investigated a call about a suspicious person in a business parking lot on Gulf Beach Highway in Pensacola, Fla. He claimed he was on his way to a naval base.

Lewis’ sister Cathleen was found dead in her home June 8, in an apparent homicide. She had sustained multiple head injuries due to blunt head trauma and an assault, according to the Will County Coroner’s Office.

Mark Lewis was named a person of interest in relation to identity theft. At the time, police said those charges stemmed from forgery and identity theft to Lewis’ mother’s bank account. He was listed as a missing person, according to Naperville police.

According to the Daily Herald story, Katrina Crone, spokeswoman for the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office said that Lewis remains in the Escambia County Jail as he fights extradition.
