Man Trades Taxi Ride for Cruise in Cop Car

Schaumburg man arrested for drunken driving.

A Schaumburg man was arrested in Naperville on Tuesday after he refused to leave a bar at last call, declined an offer from police to call him a taxi and eventually caused a fender-bender, police said.

Naperville police arrested Jason K. Schorsch, 36, around 11 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of North Route 59 and McDowell Road. Schorsch was charged with driving under the influence, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal lane use, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, making an improper left turn, disregarding a stop sign, failure to signal and driving in the wrong lane of traffic.

Police were called to a bar at 1550 N. Route 59 because Schorsch refused to leave at closing, according to the police report. He dodged questions about how he got to the bar, the report said, and police admonished him not to drive.

Schorsch left on foot, returning 20 minutes later and driving away in his vehicle, said the report.

Once he drove away, he committed numerous traffic violations including rear-ending a car that was stopped in the roadway, the report said. Police stopped him and he was arrested.
