Updated: Man Gets Away After Armed Robbery Saturday Morning

Naperville Police responded to a call for an armed robbery at the Illiana Financial Credit Union about 11:40 a.m. Nobody was harmed.

No one was hurt in an armed robbery this morning at the Illiana Financial Credit Union, located in the Iroquois Shopping Center on Naperville’s northeast side, according to the owner of a business located in the mall.

The owner of a yoga studio located adjacent to the credit union heard noise and saw police tape going up outside her business, and subsequently learned what had happened.

“I was there doing a [yoga] workshop but we didn’t hear anything,” said Mary Frances, owner of . “The call went into the police at 11:40 a.m. and it was a guy wearing a flannel shirt and a mask and he had a gun. He is long gone.”

She said she was told it was a robbery by those at the scene, but wasn’t sure if any money had been taken. Police were still at the scene a few hours later, she said.

Naperville Police said about 1:30 p.m. that they would not comment, but at 2:55 p.m. released a news release. 

Police confirmed in the news release that the man displayed a handgun to a teller and was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money.

The man was described as 6 feet tall and wearing a caucasian, flesh-toned Halloween mask, a plaid shirt and construction boots fled the scene on foot northbound from credit union. 

Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Naperville police investigators, and a K-9 unit from the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, according to the news release.
